THE GAP / 03
Some capable factories are
hard to find overseas.
A factory may have production capability without an English-speaking sales team, overseas marketing or export credentials in its own name. In those cases, an intermediary may handle the export. That possibility is a reason to verify the legal and payment chain. It does not prove that any particular seller is a factory.
The measurements behind the claims on this site. Every number below is a full count and never a guess from a sample, and I date each one because things move.
| Measurement | What it establishes | Frame | Taken |
| Registered-scope count | 74.6% of certified manufacturers carry import-export wording | 264 companies, whole frame | 8 Aug 2026 |
| Change-log count | 54.9% amended within 12 months; median 39 changes | Same 264 companies | 8 Aug 2026 |
| Official-source availability | Five of eight official hosts did not serve their front page | 8 hosts × 3 requests × 2 user agents | 8 Aug 2026 |
| A mistyped code fails loudly | The 18-character Chinese code carries a check digit: every single-character typo is caught, so a wrong code cannot quietly match some other company | 2.9 million injected errors | 9 Aug 2026 |
| Single-result confirmation | 42.5% of name searches return nothing; 50.9% return exactly one row | 106 manufacturers, whole frame | 18 Aug 2026 |
| Delivery-path measurement | 134 of 153 report lines read without waiting for a person | 153-line menu, whole frame | 22 Aug 2026 |
Whatever question you start from, the answer traces back to one of these. Every figure is dated, because registrations and source availability keep moving. If we have not measured something, the page says so.
So when you search for a "factory", what you find first is often a trading company presenting itself as one. It may sit several layers away from the workshop that actually makes your product. An honest trade partner adds real value: English communication, consolidation, quality checks, logistics. The problem is not the middleman. The problem is not knowing who you are actually buying from.
Currawong starts with the buyer’s question. Screen the wording you have. Use a commercial data source only when the page shows it is available, or arrange a scoped human public-record check. A supplier showcase, meaning a directory of factory profiles we would publish ourselves, is not open, and no date is attached to it. It would need real factory relationships we do not have yet, and a directory of empty pages would be worth less than nothing. If they do open, they will hold to the same standard as everything else here: separate facts from claims, disclose sources and dates, and keep known gaps visible. No profile is a guarantee of outcome.
